The NBA and fans are mourning the loss of Small Forward and Shooting Guard Rasual Butler who was killed in a fatal car crash early this morning.

TMZ reports the 38-year-old lost control of his Range Rover, hitting several parking meters before flipping and later slamming his vehicle into a wall. His wife, 31-year-0ld R&B singer Leah LaBelle, was also in the vehicle and died as a result of the crash.

According to police, the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. PT. In reports on the incident, Butler was speeding “two to three times” the limit at the time.

The accident occurred in Studio City, California.

Butler, who played 13 seasons in the NBA, contributed to the Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers and more roster.

The NBA released a statement via Twitter in reference to the accident.

LaBelle was a singer who was signed to Epic Records/So So Def Recordings after making an appearance in American Idol in 2004.

She released a five-track sampler in 2004, which included songs that were produced by Pharrell Williams and Jermaine Dupri.
