Two men were fatally shot on the campus of Louisiana’s Grambling State University early Wednesday and officials say the shooter remains at large.

USA TODAY reports that the incident occurred on the school’s campus, which is housed about 40 miles west of Monroe, La. One of the men killed was a student at the university.

Police were alerted by a student who called to report the disturbance. Officers found the two men dead in a courtyard on campus.

Police say the incident occurred after an altercation in a dorm room that spilled over into the campus courtyard. Lincoln Parish police are investigating, but no suspect has been identified so far.

Students have been instructed to remain in their dorms.

Both men, Earl Andrews and Monquiarious Caldwell were 23. Andrews was a senior at Grambling.

“Our prayers go out to the victims and their families,” Sutton said. “Violence has no place on our campus. We will fully cooperate with the police investigation.”

Story developing.
