NBC’s “Today” show announced Tuesday Hoda Kotb would be replacing former co-anchor Matt Lauer.

Lauer was terminated in November following sexual harassment allegations from female “Today” show staffers. Kotb first filled in for Lauer after he was fired. She’ll be anchoring alongside Savannah Guthrie.

Kotb has been a host of the fourth hour of the “Today” show along with Kathy Lee Griffin since 2008. The 53-year-old will continue to host the time slot in addition to her new role. The Egyptian anchor was visibly ecstatic about the Tuesday morning announcement.

“I am pinching myself,” Kotb said during the show. “I think we should send some medics to Alexandria, Virginia, where my mom has likely fainted after hearing the open of that show.”

Lauer congratulated his replacement. After news of his termination, Kotb shared that she still had love for the former anchor.

“He was sweet this morning,” she said of Lauer on Tuesday. “Certain texts popped up, and there was one from Matt: ‘Congratulations!’ And he said some nice words.”
