A hospital worker in Mississippi lost his job after he called a Black woman the N-word at her job, Yahoo Lifestyle reports.

Kyle Thomas, a radiology tech at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, was at a Flowood Donut Palace on Saturday when employee Keaundrea Wardlaw recorded a confrontation between herself and the hospital employee.

It’s unclear what caused the two to get into the verbal altercation, but the video starts off with Wardlaw telling Thomas, “I hope you don’t deal with children,” before he responds to her saying “Shut your f***ing mouth.”

After the two exchange more words at each other, Thomas says “You’re a ni**er” multiple times as he decides to leave the store.

“We are aware of the confrontation captured on video involving one of our off-duty employees at a local doughnut shop. We take this situation very seriously,” Ayoka Pond, hospital spokesperson, told Yahoo. “This employee’s language and behavior does not represent our organization’s values and his employment has been terminated.”

The Heavy reports that Thomas, in his now-deleted Facebook account, apologized for calling Wardlaw the N-word, writing:

“I am so sorry, there is nothing I can say that will change what I said. I drove back up there and tried to apologize and she had gone. I regret every word that I said there is no excuse to ever say these horrible things. I only hope that by me sharing a public apology in this incident you could show me some grace. I was upset about another issue and it spilled over into this and I can’t apologize enough.”

Wardlaw told WJTV that she did not want him to get fired, despite being disappointed in what he said. She confirmed that he did return to the store and apologize to her boss for “causing a disruption,” but did not speak to her.
