Howard University was on lockdown for approximately two hours after reports of a possible shooter on campus took place Tuesday afternoon, FOX 5 reports.

Washington, D.C. police responded to the 2400 block of 6th Street, Northwest shortly after noon. They received a report of a possible active shooter on campus, investigators said.

University officials said they were anonymously contacted regarding a potential shooter on campus and called the police. The Administration Building was then evacuated as investigators conducted sweeps of all campus buildings, school officials said.

Police shut down 6th Street from Fairmount Street, Northwest to College Street, Northwest and Howard Place from Georgia Avenue to 4th Street while the campuswide search took place.

No evidence of a shooting was found, and D.C. police announced the scene was cleared just before 2:15 p.m. ET and lifted the lockdown.
