President Barack Obama's campaign is planning a fundraiser with some of the biggest names in his favorite sport. Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, Sheryl Swoopes, Vince Carter and Michael Jordan himself, are among the participants in the upcoming "Obama Classic," the campaign announced in an e-mail that offers donors a shot at an invite. The e-mail asks donors to "imagine shooting hoops" with the president and other players. "Now stop dreaming and make it happen," it adds. "You and a guest of your choice could join President Obama and some of the greatest basketball stars for a special night at the Obama Classic."

The Aug. 22 event will take place in New York City and will find Alonzo Mourning, Kyrie Irving, Tracy McGrady, Dawn Staley, Paul Pierce, Austin Rivers, Penny Hardaway, Jamal Crawford, Rajon Rondo, Juwan Howard, Joe Johnson, Steve Smith and John Wall. Parents and children who wish to have a "shoot-around skills session" with the players will have to donate $5,000. A $250 donation provides an autograph session with the players. Jordan, it should be noted, is only scheduled to appear at a dinner.
