Taylor went to the East Warren 20 with a group of his friends and admitted his pants were sagging as he left home unable to find a belt. After leaving the concession counter, the teen says the manager approached him about his pants. “The manager walked up and said to pull up your pants, or you’ll be escorted,” Taylor told KAKE news. He explained that his hands were full with a drink and popcorn, but he intended to pull his pants up when he got back to his seat.

Despite following the manager’s commands, Taylor said when he left the movie theater, he was arrested for trespassing. He believes he was targeted for being Black. Taylor is well-behaved and does not get into trouble according to his mother, Ruth Dennis. She told the news station, she is angry at the theater for its bias and not the police who were doing their job.

“I just don’t want my son’s record to be messed up over sagging and [for him] to be labeled as a trespasser,” Dennis said.

The police are reviewing surveillance video of the encounter but it is unclear if Taylor will be charged at this time.
