Directions given to a Kentucky police recruit from a former assistant police chief have been making headlines for its astounding levels of maniacal bigotry.

WDRB reports former assistant police chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department Todd Shaw instructed a police recruit to kill Black minors caught smoking marijuana during a 2016 Facebook exchange.

The recruit reportedly reached out to Shaw for assistance with an essay prompt which asked recruits to share what they believe would be the “right thing to do” upon seeing three juveniles smoking weed.

“F**k the right thing,” Shaw, a police veteran of over two decades, allegedly wrote. “If black shoot them.”

He then expanded on his response with guidance as to how to “handle the juvenile’s parents.”

“…if mom is hot then f**k her,” the former assistant police chief reportedly wrote. “…if dad is hot then handcuff him and make him s**k my d**k…Unless daddy is black…Then shoot him…”

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell stumbled upon the messages during an unrelated investigation into Shaw. After the discovery, he resigned from the force. O’Connell contacted the mayor of Prospect, a small town outside of Louisville, informing him of Shaw’s racism.

“As Jefferson County Attorney, I feel compelled to notify and warn you of Shaw’s deeply offensive and racist statements,” O’Connell wrote to in his letter to Prospect Mayor John Evans according to ABC News. “There is no place in police departments for men or women who hold such strongly held prejudices, including recommending shooting people simply because of their race.”

In later exchanges with the recruit, Shaw also referred to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as “nothing but a [racist] womanizer.”

“But because someone shot him, I get a day off with pay each year so I will take it,” the message allegedly read.

Shaw also denounced a form in which recruits must promise they aren’t affiliated with hate groups and don’t hold racist or prejudiced beliefs (ha!).

“What has POLICING come to when all you can shoot are white people and injured deer,” Shaw allegedly wrote. “Lol.”

Because of the racist beliefs expressed in the messages, 24 of the criminal cases in which the officer presided may be thrown out. Shaw is currently facing civil charges for the disturbing exchanges. The recruit, whose responses were also racist, is no longer working with LMPD.
