George Njoroge, Ph.D., is a Kenyan-born scientist, who has been awarded over 100 patents in the United States for his work in cancer and immunology research and discovery. According to Black Enterprise, he will be given the Pioneer Award for Impact in Science and Medicine at Face2Face Africa’s FACE List Awards.

Dr. Njoroge grew up in rural Kenya, where he learned to appreciate research and medical science watching his grandmother, an herbal medicine doctor, care for the community. He now has over 30 years of research experience and is a senior research fellow at Lilly, a global pharmaceutical corporation.
During his time as director of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Merck Research Laboratories, an anti-HCV viral drug, Victrelis™, was discovered. The medication became the first-in-class therapy for Hepatitis C treatment and was approved by the Federal Drug Association in May 2011.

The Pan-African weekend is scheduled to take place in New York City. Dr. Njoroge will be honored on July 14 at F.A.C.E. List Awards, where leaders who have made a tremendous impact on the Pan-African community are recognized for their achievements.
