Kobe Bryant left a Lakers pre-season game early to rush to the bedside of his former teammate Lamar Odom, TMZ reports.
The star prayed with members of the Kardashian family, who arrived at the hospital soon after the former pro athlete was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel late Tuesday. Odom, 35, was picked up from the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, about 70 miles outside of Las Vegas. Dennis Hof, who owns the Love Ranch, said his staff had picked up Odom from a home in Vegas on Saturday.
“He just wanted to get away, have a good time and relax,” Hof told The Associated Press in a phone interview.
Hof said Odom was “happy, he was sleeping every night,” while visiting, but two women went to check on Odom Tuesday afternoon after not hearing from him since early morning.
They found him face down and unconscious. The women called 911, and at the instruction of the dispatcher, turned him on his side. The women say Odom started “throwing up all kinds of stuff.” Hof said Odom had been taking herbal Viagra and had drunk a portion of a bottle of cognac since arriving. “It’s incredibly sad,” said Hof. Odom’s condition remains the same.
His heart is failing and he is in a coma. Wishing Mr. Odom a speedy recovery.
