Maya Angelou said it best, “When you go after success, you’ll see how liberating it will feel.” Our guess is that she had no idea that hate, ignorance, and bigotry would be free to terrorize the first Black President of the United States though. After silencing detractors by releasing his long form birth certificate, a new lawsuit has been filed in Alaska (of all places) challenging President Obama’s inclusion on the 2012 presidential ballot. What’s the issue, you ask? Well, it seems a man by the name of Gordon Warren Epperly feels that Negroes and “mulattoes” cannot be leaders of the free world because they aren’t really citizens.

Epperly’s lawsuit states:

“Barack Hussein Obama II, a.k.a. Barack Hussein Obama, a.k.a. Barack H. Obama has the race status of being a “mulatto.” Barack Obama’s father (Barack Hussein Obama I) was a full blood Negro being born Nyang’oma Kogelo, Nyanza Province, Kenya and raised in the Colony of Kenya. Barack Obama’s mother (Stanley Ann Dunham) was a White Caucasian woman being born in Wichita, Kansas on November 29, 1942 and raised in the state of Washing and in the state of Hawaii.”

Epperly is convinced that because Obama is a part of the “mulatto” race, “his status of citizenship is founded upon the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.” What is extra interesting about this “lawsuit,” is that Epperly throws a lil’ bit of Jim Crow on it for extra seasoning, stating that “the race of Negro or mulatto had no standing to be citizens of the United States under the United States Constitution.” Our guess is that Gordon forgot that immortal declaration in the Constitution that “all men are created equal.”

While this has no real merit in court, what do these constant attacks mean as we go deeper into the election season?
