Original Story: It’s been some time since we’ve heard “What? Ok?” in an aggressively crunk mannerism—and that’s because rapper Lil Jon has been out here building schools in the motherland.

In collaboration with Pencils of Promise, a non-profit dedicated to international education equality, the ATL crunk king has funded a primary school in Ghana. Abomayaw D.A. Kindergarten will provide students in the Asuogyaman District with a comfortable learning environment. They previously tended to their studies in sheds and underneath trees.

The rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Smith, had the honor of cutting the ribbon at the school’s grand opening ceremony last week.

“It is amazing to see the community come out and support, and the appreciation they are showing for us being here, us coming into the community, us building the school,” he told Ghanian radio station Joy Online. “I just feel like I’m lost for words of how amazing it feels to give the community something like this school,” he said.

Prior to the school’s opening ceremony, Lil Jon spent a week acquainting himself with Ghanaian culture.
