Last week, famed rapper, Meek Mill was sentenced to 2 to 4 years behind bars for repeatedly violating his parole, reports say.
The public outcry and calls of injustice were so loud that the FBI has now launched an investigation against the judge who sentenced him.
Page Six reports that a probe into the Philadelphia judge who oversaw the case is underway. JAY-Z and Rick Ross are just a few of the stars who have publicly criticized Judge Genece Brinkley for sentencing Meek, despite the district attorney and Meek’s probation officer requesting no jail time.
Currently, Meek Mill has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement.
Joe Tacopina is Meek’s attorney. He has publicly claimed that Brinkley showed “enormous bias” against the rapper. He also claims the judge acted “inappropriately” by repeatedly asking Mill to drop Roc Nation and sign with Philly music figure Charlie Mack for his management.
Meek worked with Mack early in his career.
“The feds have an interest in the judge and [her] potential relationships,” reports Page Six. “This is an investigation looking into a possible extortionate demand. Undercover agents have been in the courtroom monitoring the Meek proceedings since April 2016.”
Per [Justice Department] policy, we neither confirm nor deny the existence of investigations.,” an FBI rep told the media outlet.
So far, Brinkley has not commented on the matter.
