Headlines everywhere told the story of a crazed Miami man who took the mysterious new drug "bath salts," undressed, and ate the face of a homeless man in broad daylight. And, in the age-old fashion of news, the story spread like wildfire with similar apocalyptic reports popping up across the country. But, the toxicology report from the case that stemmed the "epidemic" may have shut down all arguments. On Wednesday, the Miami-Dade medical examiner found that the only drug “face-eater” Rudy Eugene was on was marijuana.

From the medical examiner: "The laboratory has tested for but not detected any other street drugs, alcohol or prescription drugs…This includes cocaine, LSD, amphetamines (Extasy, Meth and others), phencyclidine (PCP or Angel Dust), heroin, oxycodone, Xanax, synthetic marijuana (Spice), and many other similar compounds."

To make sure their findings were precise, the medical examiner’s office even sought the assistance of "outside forensic toxicology reference laboratory," still finding no bath salts.
