Hours after footage of President Trump mocking Brett Kavanaugh accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, during a “Make America Great Again” rally went viral, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele shared his thoughts with TMZ, saying 45’s demeanor was “unfortunate, stupid” and “wrong.”

“[It was] disrespectful of the office of the President to go after a woman who has made the claims that she has about what’s happened to her personally. It’s unfortunate.”

Steele went on to say he doesn’t believe Trump’s demeanor is a reflection of most Americans, adding, “I just look at America and say, ‘don’t get used to this, because this is not who we are.’”

When asked about Trump supporters who cheered as Trump mocked Dr. Ford, Steele referred to them as “sycophants.”

“They lift the man up and he lifts them up, it’s a symbiotic relationship that I think is the epitome of dysfunction. Again, don’t use that as an indication of who we are or what we believe, because it just isn’t right.”

Ford alleged that Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Pres. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s when they were both teens. As a result, the confirmation process to appoint Kavanaugh has been delayed while the FBI investigates the sexual misconduct allegations.
