Celebrities including Queen Latifah and Michelle Obama are using their platforms to encourage people to register to vote ahead of the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, which was National Voter Registration Day, black-ish star Jenifer Lewis and This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson were among the influential people who told their fans to rock the vote.  But don’t worry if you missed the date; there are ample ways to register to vote before the upcoming registration deadlines.

The first step is to check out the voter registration deadlines, which are different in each state, on Vote.org.

Registering to vote is now more accessible than ever. You can mail in the form, register in person or you can complete the process in less than two minutes online at Vote.org/register-to-vote. There are also call-to-action buttons on Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube that will direct you to the website for voter registration.

Voting rules differ by state, so the best way to find out the guidelines for yours is to contact your state or local election office.

Don’t let the climate of today’s politics deter you from hitting the polls this November. Obama recently explained that “When we stay home, things stay the same or they get worse” in a PSA for When We All Vote, a voting initiative she co-founded.

The midterm elections are important because control of state governments and the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are up for grabs. The Republican Party currently has control of both the House and Senate, and under President Donald Trump’s administration, many promoted policies heighten gender bias and racial and economic injustice.

Check your registration status, find out more information and set a reminder ahead of the midterm elections.

By registering to vote and heading to the polls on Nov. 6, citizens can help place progressive and dynamic candidates in seats that will affect the course of history on the state and federal levels.
