For 31 years, Mumia Abu-Jamal has been on death row, spending 23 hours a day in his cell, by himself. In December, good news came in the form of an announcement stating that the State of Pennsylvania would rescind the death penalty for the former radio journalist. This week, Abu-Jamal has been removed from solitary confinement, and has been entered into general prison population for the first time since his highly controversial arrest.

Susan McNaughton, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, confirmed that he was moved Friday. This is a very important move in the fight to save the former Black Panther's life. Now, he is able to see his friends, family, and legal counsel in person, and not from behind a glass window.

With more evidence coming out showing how unfairly Mumia Abu-Jamal has been treated, will he be free to see the light of day soon?
