Nikolas Cruz’s Brother Arrested for Allegedly Trespassing at Parkland School

The younger brother of Nikolas Cruz, the shooter charged in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida was arrested on Monday. The 18-year-old Zachary Cruz was picked up on an alleged trespassing charge on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, according to the Washington Post.

Zachary and Nikolas share a biological mom and different fathers. The younger brother spoke to authorities after the shooting on Feb. 14, where he expressed remorse for his brother’s actions.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detective wrote in a report two days later that Zachary Cruz expressed remorse regarding the shooting and how he had treated his brother. An officer described Cruz as “somewhat responsible and guilty” for his brother’s actions as he and friends bullied Nikolas in the past.

Broward County authorities report that Cruz said he wanted to “reflect on the school shooting and soak it in.” He was living with Rocxanne Deschamps in Palm Beach County since the death of his and Nikolas’ adopted mother, Lynda Cruz passed away in November. Cops stated that Cruz “surpassed all locked doors and gates and proceeded to ride his skateboard through school grounds.”

After speaking with authorities, it is stated that Cruz was warned by school officials “to refrain from entering the school campus.”

Cruz was released on bond Tuesday morning. The school plans to prosecute the younger brother for disregarding previous warnings.
