President Donald Trump derided the testimony of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday during a “Make America Great Again” rally in Southaven, Mississippi.

Ford alleged that Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Pres. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s when they were both teens. As a result, the confirmation process to appoint Kavanaugh has been delayed while the FBI investigates the sexual misconduct allegations.

Trump scoffed at Ford’s inability to remember specific details about the alleged assault, and the audience laughed as he recounted her statements.

“How did you get home? ‘I don’t remember,'” he said acting as questioner and Ford. “How did you get there? ‘I don’t remember.’ Where is the place? ‘I don’t remember.’ How many years ago was it? ‘I don’t know.'”

The president further belittled Ford’s recollection saying, “But I had one beer; that’s the only thing I remember.”  The crowd cheered and clapped when Trump asserted that Kavanaugh’s life is being “shattered” by “evil people.”

Peter Alexander, an NBC News national correspondent, said a White House official defended the president’s biased comments:

“NOW: A White House official, defending the president’s comments mocking Dr. Ford’s account, tells me: “‘Factual gaps and inconsistencies [in Ford’s account] are fair game,'” Alexander tweeted.

Ford’s lawyer, Michael R. Bromwich, called Trump’s comments “vicious, vile and soulless” and doubled down on how attacks such as the president’s are why sexual assault survivors rarely come forward.
