In this week's latest example of the Republican party's racial dog-whistling, it looks like John Sununu is up to his old tricks again. The campaign co-chair for Mitt Romney hit the talk show circuit as part of the team's victory lap for Wednesday night's debate "win," by appearing on Fox News and MSNBC on Thursday. Armed with some disparaging remarks for President Barack Obama, Sununu described his performance as "babbling," "lazy," and "disengaged." The extra insulting icing on the cake is when the Republican talking piece scoffed at the idea that he could improve in future debates saying, "When you're not that bright you can't get better prepared."

It was during an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, Sununu took it a step further. "What people saw last night, I think, was a president who revealed his incompetence – how lazy and detached he is and how he has absolutely no idea how serious the economy problems of the country are and how he has failed to even address them." Never mind the point that most fact checkers scored Obama as telling more "truths" than his political opponent, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. Given a last chance to think about what he was saying, Sununu snapped and stuck to his guns, saying, "He didn't want to prepare for this debate. He's lazy and disengaged."
