A New Orleans Catholic school reversed its policy on Monday that banned hair extensions following the story of a Black girl who left the school in tears after reportedly being told to leave because of her hair.

Activist Shaun King posted a video of Faith Fennidy on Aug. 21 crying over her hair, leading people to believe that Christ The King Middle School targeted Black students, The Associated Press reports.

A Louisiana judge blocked the school from implementing the rules after Fennidy’s family sued.

Fennidy’s family, as well as the family of Tyrielle Davis, who also sued the school over the hair policy, was told that Christ The King removed the rule, according to the superintendent Archdiocese of New Orleans school, RaeNell Houston, per the AP.

“When this issue arose, the school immediately reviewed its policy and recognized that there may have been sensitivities that needed to be addressed,” Houston’s said in a statement to the AP. “They then reached out for input from the Office of Catholic Schools, the Office of Black Catholic Ministries, other principals, and parents.”
