A 17-year old mom has been arrested after a video of her 9-month-old child being left on the street unattended surfaced, the Observer Dispatch reports.

(The) Utica Police Department became aware of a video posted to Facebook showing an infant in the roadway unattended,” said Lt. Bryan Coromato of the Utica Police Department  the release. “Once the video was brought to our attention an investigation was immediately initiated.”

In the video, several citizens are shown attending to the child, Coromato said. The search lasted several hours, with officials finding the mother and child on the 500 block of Milgate Street in Utica, NY.

The mom said she was unaware of how her child ended up outside on the street.

She told police that “he infant was secured in the rear of a vehicle that she was in when they left a location on (Bleecker Street),” and “a short time later, he looked to the back seat and found that the child was not there.”

The mother was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.”

The Oneida County Child Protective Services were also notified, Coromato said.
