Students at several Madison-area schools walked out of class Monday morning to protest the shooting of a 19-year-old man Friday.

WISN 12 News reporter Hillary Mintz said about 100 students from Madison East and Sun Prairie high schools are marching with a police escort toward the state Capitol.

Officials estimated as many as 1,500 students filled the Capitol rotunda. College kids, high school kids and middle schoolers all walked out of class to be there.
