President Donald Trump called Mayor Andrew Gillum (D-FL), who’s looking to become the first Black governor of Florida, a “thief” on Twitter on Monday without citing evidence.

Trump has lent his support to Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the closely watched gubernatorial race.

“In Florida there is a choice between a Harvard/Yale educated man named @RonDeSantisFL who has been a great Congressman and will be a great Governor – and a Dem who is a thief and who is Mayor of poorly run Tallahassee, said to be one of the most corrupt cities in the Country!” he wrote.

The @racismdog Twitter account, which points out when people tweet out racist dog whistles online, reposted Trump’s tweet with its signature “Bark” comment.

According to HuffPost, the president is most likely referring to an FBI corruption investigation over Gillum accepting a ticket for the musical Hamilton from an undercover FBI agent who claimed he was a developer in Tallahassee.

Gillum admitted that “he should have asked more questions” to the people in his circle and “accepts” responsibility.

“But I’m running for Governor. Florida has 99 problems, and Hamilton ain’t one of them.”

Gillum responded to Trump’s attack and once again called the president “weak.”

“On Twitter there is a choice between having the courage to @ the person you are trash talking, or not. @realDonaldTrump is howling because he’s weak,” he wrote. “Florida, go vote today.”
