WWE CEO Vince McMahon announced Thursday he’d be reviving a football league he founded in 2001.

McMahon said the resurgence of XFL was not a response to recent NFL controversies. But there’s one particular requirement for potential players that may lead one to believe otherwise.

“People don’t want social and political issues coming into play when they are trying to be entertained,” McMahon said during a press conference. “We want someone who wants to take a knee to do their version of that on their personal time.”

The 72-year-old also emphasized his ownership of the league, which will premiere in 2020, indicates he can add or alter rules as he pleases.

”I can say, ‘Here are the rules, and as long as you are playing football in the stadium for us, you follow these rules,'” he said.

Hoards of football fans have condemned the NFL for allowing players to exercise their right to protest injustices faced by the Black community. In September, President Trump, a dear friend of McMahon’s, slammed athletes who protest on the playing field, referring to players who do so as a “son of a bitch.”

The two also have a business relationship. Trump actually purchased WWE sub-brand Monday Night Raw from McMahon in 2009.

McMahon’s wife, Linda, even works for Trump as the overseer of the president’s Small Business Administration.

In addition to keeping their humanity off the playing field, there’s another stipulation to becoming an XFL player.

“We are evaluating a player based on many things, including the quality of human being they are,” McMahon, a reputed adulterer, said. “If you have any sort of criminal record or commit a crime you aren’t playing in this league.”

Although there are blatant resemblances between McMahon’s and Trump’s social perspectives — as well as their affection for simple sentences — McMahon said he doesn’t have the slightest clue as to whether “President Trump will support this.”
