Every city has that special someone who goes out of his or her way to organize anti-violence walks or ensure the local scouting troops have a safe space to meet. Then there are the people who stay up late to organize the community garden, get up early to pick up trash off the streets, gather the neighborhood kids to recycle aluminum cans or kick start a community choir. Sometimes one person does all of the above in addition to the hundreds of other acts of civil and social grace that strengthen and preserve a community. Is that person you or someone you know?

If so, nominate your local do-gooder for EBONY’s first ever Hometown Hero list. Follow the directions below and read our December’s issue to see if your hero made the final cut.
