A White man accused of pulling out a gun on four Black Florida A&M University students waiting to enter an apartment building turned himself into the police at the Leon County Detention Facility in Tallahassee on Friday, according to NBC News.

Police charged Don Crandall Jr., 49, with improper exhibition of a firearm, law enforcement officials told NBC News. If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail.

Crandall had said he was a resident of the building the students were entering and told them, “If you don’t got a key to this building, you don’t belong in the elevator,” according to a video captured by Isaiah Butterfield on Sept. 8.

“He made sure that we saw the gun. He was holding his arm in a way to emphasize,” Butterfield told NBC News.

After the video went viral, Crandall lost his job as general manager of the Baymont by Wyndham, Tallahassee Central.
