In an era where many are actively creating a more inclusive and diverse world, the plaintiffs in two high-profile legal cases are attempting to do the opposite.

The Wall Street Journal reports that White men have accused employers of discrimination and/or retaliation in response to U.S. corporations’ efforts to improve career advancement for women and people of color.

According to the publication, a recruiter is accusing YouTube of retaliation after he complained that the user-generated video site discriminated against White and Asian male applications. Instead, the man alleges that the company hired other people of color and women.

This is one of two lawsuits regarding White men having a problem with diversity. Google is being sued by one of its former engineers, James Damore. He accused the company of terminating his employment for expressing political views of a conservative nature that are in opposition to the company’s hiring practices related to diversity.

Alphabet Inc. is the parent company of both YouTube and Google. It said it would defend itself against the claims espoused in both cases.

“You can have a goal, even a numerical goal over a time period, to increase the number of women or people of color,” said Dennis Parker, director of the racial justice program at the American Civil Liberties Union. “That’s different than saying, ‘We’re not going to hire any more White men.'”
