Facing criticism from both the left and the right, Mitt Romney has lost Whoopi Goldberg as well. The celebrated actress and co-host of ABC's "The View" lashed out at Romney on Twitter, calling him a confused candidate who "sheds ideas faster than a snake sheds skin." She was responding directly to a section of the leaked video, which was secretly shot at a Boca Raton fundraiser in May, where Romney discussed going on "The View" — and cracked a joke at Goldberg's expense.

"'The View' is high risk because of the five women on it. Only one is conservative and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative, Whoopi Goldberg in particular," he said. "Although the last time I was on the show, she said to me, 'You know what? I think I could vote for you.' And I said, 'I must have done something really wrong." The "Sister Act" star fired off shots such as, "Well, Mr. Romney, the man I was talking about turned into a man who flushed his ideals down the drain." "Yes, once I thought there was the possibility of a moderate Republican who could make the race with Obama at least interesting. But that was months ago before your desperation to be President made you forget your ideals."

Ouch! Romney's campaign HQ is employing an act of damage control, indicating that the former Massachusetts governor would be returning to the show in October. It seems safe to say that he might not be sitting next to Whoopi when he does.
