The White Dallas cop who shot and killed a Black man on Thursday after she walked into his apartment thinking it was her own claimed that the door was ajar when she arrived, but neighbors have disputed her claim saying they heard her knock on the door and shout before the fatal shooting, The Daily Mail reports.

A neighbor said that they heard 30-year-old Amber Guyger shout, “Let me in, let me in,” before she shot Botham Jean in the chest last week.

Another neighbor reportedly heard a male voice scream out, “Oh, my God. Why did you do that?” after they heard gunshots.

Lee Merritt, Jean’s family lawyer, said they he believes those were his last words.

The neighbors’ account of what they heard contradicts Guyger’s claim that she thought it was her apartment and that the door was slightly open.

Guyger reportedly told authorities that she realized she was in the wrong apartment after she shot him, turned the lights on and called 911.

Jean’s mother, Allison, said that she doesn’t think they have all the answers in her son’s death.

“The number one answer that I want is, what happened? I have asked too many questions and have been told that there are no answers yet,” his mom, who flew in from St. Lucia, said at a press conference on Monday. “I am looking forward to all of the powers that be to come up with the answers. To make me more satisfied that they are doing what is in the best interest of that injustice for Botham.”

Guyger, who worked for the Dallas Police Department for four years, was arrested three days after the incident and charged with manslaughter. She was released on a $300,000 bond.

Jean was a risk assurance experience associate at accounting firm Pricewaterhouse Cooper in Dallas. He arrived in the U.S. in 2011 from St. Lucia and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas’s Harding University.
