Family Of Andrew Brown Jr. Say He Was Executed By NC Sheriff's Deputies

Andrew Brown Jr., 42, was killed by Pasquotank County Sheriff's deputies who shot him five times, once in the head, while serving an arrest warrant last Wednesday, NBC News reports. Forensic pathologist Dr. Brent Hall, who was hired by Brown's family, found that the victim was shot four times in the arm and once in the back of the head from "intermediate" range. "This, in fact, was a fatal wound to the back of Mr. Brown's head as he was leaving the site trying to evade being shot at by these particular law enforcement officers that we believe did nothing but a straight-up execution," said attorney Wayne Kendall, who is representing the Brown family. So far, the family says that were only allowed to see 20 seconds of body camera footage from the incident.

Oprah Says Derek Chauvin Trial Gave Her Emmett Till 'Flashbacks'

In an interview with Dr. Oz, Oprah Winfrey expressed that awaiting the verdict in the George Floyd murder trial gave her "flashbacks" to the 1955 murder of Emmett Till.

“So when I watched the verdict live like so many other people did around the world, I started to tear up and I asked myself, where is this emotion coming from? And I was having, you know, you know, flashbacks of Emmett Till and all the names that we’ve heard protesters speak, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor," said Winfrey. “I was thinking about all the people who have stood in courtrooms over the years, Black people waiting for justice to be served and not hearing the verdict that they deserved. And this moment was a sacrifice for all of the people who didn’t receive justice."

Till was just 14 years old when he was mutilated and murdered by a mob of white men after being accused of flirting with a white woman.

Jay Z Talks Child-Rearing, Prioritizing Love Over Things

In a rare interview with The Sunday Times, Jay Z discussed raising his three children, Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi Carter and why showering them with love is at the top of his list of priorities. "Feeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know? Not 'Here's this business that I’m going to hand over to you, that I'm creating for you," said the rapper and entrepreneur. "What if my child doesn't want to be in music or sports?" I have no idea, right? But as long as your child feels supported, and feels loved, I think anything is possible."

Jay Z added that as parents, he and his wife, Beyoncé, are merely guides for their three children and it is their duty to simply provide a "loving environment."
