Arrest Made in Murder of Gloria Pointer

Arrest in famous unsolved murder of Cleveland teen

Officials say that "progress has been made" in connection with one of the city's most well-known unsolved crimes, the 1984 murder of Cleveland teen Gloria Pointer.

The 14-year-old was raped and killed on her way to school on a day she was to receive a perfect attendance award.

Police have not released specific details about the progress made on the case but on Monday they arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated murder.

Gloria Pointer’s mother, Yvonne Pointer, has never let her daughter’s case be forgotten. Determined to keep such tragedies from happening again, she became an anti-violence activist and minister who is well known on the national speaking circuit.
