Eric Smith, 27, was gunned down in southeast Atlanta on Wednesday (June 13) during a vigil honoring another shooting victim, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
According to authorities, Smith was one of 200 people who gathered in the 300 block of Thomasville Boulevard to honor Christopher Calhoun, the victim who died after a shootout in the neighborhood on Monday (June 11). The crowd dispersed after guns were drawn when at least two individuals got into an argument. It is unclear whether Smith was engaged in the dispute or if he was a bystander caught in the crossfire.
The 27-year-old was shot multiple times and died on the way to the hospital, reports WXIA-TV.
Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses but have not yet made any arrests in connection to the fatal shootings. Investigations are still ongoing.
