Bernice King Condemns Newsweek for Disrespectful MLK Photo

The daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was flabbergasted Monday morning after Newsweek posted a distasteful photo of the civil rights icon.

The 85-year-old publication posted a photo of MLK in a casket with the caption: “Has anybody here seen my old friend Martin?”

The photo was attached to a post which briefly mentioned the upcoming anniversary of MLK’s death. The media outlet deleted the tweet and issued an apology shortly after it was shared.

But King and many others were already left aghast.

Dr. King would have turned 89 years old on Jan. 15. Let’s hope the publication finds a redemptive way to commemorate the day.
