Lupita Nyong’o Says ‘Black Panther 2’ Storyline Was Reshaped To Be ‘Respectful’ Of Chadwick Boseman

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Lupita Nyong’o discussed Black Panther 2 and the emotional tug o’ war of returning to the set after the death of the Chadwick Boseman, who died last summer following a battle with colon cancer. “His passing is still extremely raw for me,” Nyong’o said. “And I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like to step on set and not have him there.” She did, however, express confidence in director Ryan Coogler’s approach to the sequel’s storyline. “But at the same time we have a leader in Ryan, who feels very much like we do, who feels the loss in a very, very real way as well. And his idea, the way which he has reshaped the second movie is so respectful of the loss we’ve all experienced as a cast and as a world,” she said.

Four Deputies In Andrew Brown Shooting Return To Work

Four out of the seven North Carolina deputies who were suspended following the fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr., have returned to work after investigation revealed that they did not fire their guns, Reuters reports. The other three officers remain on administrative leave. Brown was shot five times, once in the back of the head, as the deputies attempted to serve a search warrant.

Hillsong Pastor Resigns After Sharing Thirst Trap

Pastor Darnell Barrett, the pastor and creative director of the Hillsong Church’s Montclair, New Jersey chapter, has resigned after a volunteer accused him of sending her revealing photos of himself shirtless and wearing revealing compression tights. Similar photos were also posted to Barrett’s Instagram stories. “Darnell Barrett, the creative oversight for Hillsong East Coast’s Montclair location, resigned on Tuesday (April 27, 2021),” the organization said in a statement. “Hillsong accepted his resignation and agreed that he could not continue as part of our team. We were disappointed to learn about choices he made that were unacceptable for any Hillsong staff member.”

Thursday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans to reopen the city by July 1. “We are ready for stores to open, for businesses to open, offices, theaters, full strength,” de Blasio said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” citing vaccination numbers as the reason for the reopening. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, however, stated that he would like to see NYC reopened before July, according to NBC New York.

Florida Passes Voting Restriction Bill

A Florida voting restriction bill that will cut back voting by mail and place limitations on who can leave their ballots at drop boxes was passed by the House and the Senate Thursday, NBC News reports. The bill is expected to be signed by Governor Ron DeSantis. The legislation will also place a ban on moving drop boxes within 30 days of an election, place limitations on where boxes can be placed, and require election officials to monitor the boxes while they are open.
