A supporter of President Donald Trump compared the group of Democratic female lawmakers wearing all white at the State of the Union to wearing Ku Klux Klan robes, according to The Hill.

Katrina Pierson, Trump’s 2016 national campaign spokeswoman and senior adviser on his 2020 re-election campaign, criticized the outfits Wednesday.

“The only thing that the Democrats uniform was missing tonight is the matching hood,” she wrote.

The women wore white to honor the suffragette movement of the early 20th century, where members fought for giving women the right to vote, according to The Hill.

“2019 is the 100th anniversary of the women's right to vote ... and there's so much more that we have to fight for,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told CNN before Tuesday’s State of the Union. “From wage equality to paycheck fairness to protecting ourselves and believing survivors."

Other conservatives shared Pierson’s feelings about the women wearing white.

“I see the Dems have their Klan colors on tonight!!” wrote Rev. Darrell Scott, a former member of the presidential transition team.

“Tonight is not the first time a bunch of ghouls dressed in white denied the humanity of an entire class of people in order to continue perpetuating horrific violence against them,” wrote Sean Davis, co-founder of conservative website The Federalist.
