Chicago: Black Lawmakers Push for Broader Federal Probe

Several Black lawmakers in Illinois are pushing for the U.S. Justice Department to expand its investigation of the Chicago Police Department to include the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the civilian agency that investigates officer misconduct.

State Sen. and Chairwoman of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, Kimberly Lightford, said that problems in the city go beyond the police department.
