Journalist Brooke Baldwin defended Black female reporters after they were targeted by President Donald Trump last week, per HuffPost.

The CNN anchor came to the defense of White House correspondent April Ryan, whom Trump called “nasty” and “a loser”; PBS News Hour’s Yamiche Alcindor, whom the president called “racist” after she questioned him about his nationalism comments; and CNN’s White House correspondent Abby Phillip, whom Trump said asked “a lot of stupid questions.”

“They can take these insults. They don’t need me sticking up for them,” Baldwin said on Friday. “But still, there is something so wrong with this. It is beyond disturbing. It is ugly, and I’m angry.” She added that the women were “consummate professionals. A-grade.”

“Among the multiple journalists President Trump has insulted this week, three of them are black women: @Yamiche @AprilDRyan @abbydphillip There is something SO wrong with this. I had to speak up:” the CNN Newsroom host wrote on Twitter.

CNN commentator Keith Boykin took to Twitter and created a list of Black people Trump has criticized for decades, including athletes, apartment tenants and workers.

“Trump loves to punch, but this is something else. This feels personal,” Baldwin said. “Among the multiple reporters this president has insulted this week, three are African-American women.”

The host added, “These are not only fair questions they’re asking of him; these are the most important questions about this White House. And it pushes his buttons. And this is where he goes? These women have conducted themselves with the utmost respect. “The person who apparently has none? The president.”

Trump has had a contentious relationship with the press since he became president in 2017. In addition to verbally attacking female reporters, he went after CNN’s Jim Acosta during a press conference last week in which he called him “rude.”

“CNN should be ashamed of itself having you work for them,” the president said to Acosta, who asked him about the caravan filled with migrants headed toward the U.S. “You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN. The way you treat Sarah Sanders is horrible. The way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn’t treat people that way.”

The White House eventually stripped Acosta of his credentials to attend White House press briefings.
