Coalition of Black Pastors Want Obama to Change His Gay Marriage Stance

President Barack Obama

It’s a long shot that President Barack Obama will go back on his very vocal stance on gay marriage, but a group of Black pastors wish to change his mind. In a petition sent to Attorney General Eric Holder, a coalition of Black pastors asked for a sit-down with Obama to change his mind about same-sex marriages. According to the Washington Times, the letter referenced the fight for civil rights when explaining why they’re against gay marriage.

“I can promise you we did not march one inch, one foot, one yard for same-sex marriage,” said Rev. William Bill Owens Sr., founder of the coalition and organizer of the letter. Disappointed by the political stance, the 20 pastors behind the letter hope that the commander-in-chief will look beyond the election and hear their perspective.
