In honor of Black History Month, Planned Parenthood Action Fund celebrates the courageous leadership in the black community that pushes our nation toward a more equal and just society. For decades, Planned Parenthood has worked with these leaders to increase opportunity and provide greater access to health care for all individuals. Planned Parenthood will highlight 99 Dream Keepers — one for each year since Planned Parenthood’s founding — who have demonstrated that we are stronger together in our commitment to in the fight for the “Healthiest Generation Ever.”
“We honor the 99 Dream Keepers who continue to stand with us in our commitment to better health care and economic outcomes for the Black community,” said Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Whether they use their influence to keep black lives at the forefront of the conversation about justice, or the silent soldiers who provide strength from within, we are grateful for their leadership, courage and tenacity to break down barriers towards the achievement of equality.”
“We firmly believe that we are stronger when we work together, and Black History Month is an opportunity for our nation to reflect on the legacy of powerful coalitions. We must continue to commit ourselves to improving the lives of African Americans, whether it’s through education, health care, voting rights, and fair justice as the great civil rights leaders and their ancestors have. We honor these 99 leaders for their tireless efforts, advocacy and inspiration.”
