The Theta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Ivy Foundation hosted the Forever Young 2012 Fashion show on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Independent designers from across the country lit up the Hempstead High School auditorium runway to show off pieces from their respective collections – all in the name of raising scholarship money for students throughout Long Island. Debutantes from Theta Iota Omega's 2012 Cotillion were amongst those who modeled the pieces.

The show included designers ranging from edgy with brands like Emigee Couture and Dramatik Fanatik to empowering with uplifting designs from I AM HER and I AM CULTURE, to bold and colorful with the likes of Confetti, Dani Nichole Designs, Nippy Lavern Fashions and the Fabric Twinz. Volunteers at the event also took the chance to encourage attendees to register to vote before joining sponsors Deloitte, Big Eye Photography, In The Mix, Arial Space, Avon, Stop N Shop and Pathmark at the Angela Kelly-emceed afterparty. All of the proceeds from the event went to the scholarship fund, helping to make this event about more than having a good time.

The ongoing efforts of the Theta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Ivy Foundation are a powerful example of the positive impact that Black fraternities and sororities continue to make on the community – a factor that can be overshadowed at times. Service and community are integral pieces of Greek life and events like this one, wont let us forget it.
