Ex-Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested on suspicion of burglary last week. However, he has spoken out revealing he was looking for a home in the San Diego neighborhood when the cops were called.

Winslow was on the house hunt for his mother-in-law at the Park Encinitas Mobile Home Park. He did not even enter the home when “an over-reactive neighbor called police after she saw Kellen walking around a mobile home,” spokeswoman Denise White said in an email to NBC News on Saturday.

The residence in question belongs a friend of his wife, but the elderly white woman called in the alleged robbery after she confronted Winslow and was met with sarcasm. He told her he was looking for Clifford, the red dog when she asked who he was and what he was doing, according to NBC San Diego. The neighbor provided photos of the former football player’s car to the authorities who arrested him a few blocks from the home.

Despite the neighbor saying Winslow never entered the home or took anything, he was still held in jail for a few hours following his arrest. “Mr. Winslow emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park. He looks forward to being vindicated once this matter is fully investigated and adjudicated through the court system,” attorney Harvey A. Steinberg said in a statement.

He was scheduled to appear in court earlier today (June 11).
