George Zimmerman Expelled From Seminole State College

George Zimmerman has been expelled by Seminole State College. The man who admitted to shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has created what the community college called a "high-profile controversy," and the school made the decision to remove Zimmerman from their academic life. The 28-year-old on-and-off student had been working towards an associate degree since 2009. The school released a statement on their decision:

"Due to the highly charged and high-profile controversy involving this student, Seminole State has taken the unusual but necessary step this week to withdraw Mr. Zimmerman from enrollment. The decision is based solely on our responsibility to provide for the safety of our students on campus as well as for Mr. Zimmerman." The volunteer neighborhood watchman has been the catalyst for discussion about race and justice since the Feb. 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin. After calling 911, the dispatcher told him not to follow Martin, yet Zimmerman pursued him anyway.

Was Seminole State College wrong in their dismissal of a still yet-to-be-charged man?
