Janet Jackson will finally be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame  The music icon is a part of the class of 2019 inductees, which includes Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Roxy Music and Def Leppard.

Janet joins her older brothers Michael Jackson (Class of 2001) and the Jackson 5 (Class of 1997) as members of the Hall of Fame.

Janet is described as “a pop icon immediately identifiable on a first-name basis,” by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The organization also acknowledged that the youngest Jackson “explored social issues, themes of empowerment and self-confidence, and influenced generations with her stylized music videos with innovative choreography.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the entertainer was nominated three times before being chosen as a Hall of Famer. Many people felt that considering her lengthy and impactful career, Janet was being snubbed.

In February, The Roots’ drummer Questlove critiqued the fact that Janet had not been chosen as a Hall of Fame member, calling it “criminal.”

“As a voting member of the @RockHall its criminal that @JanetJackson has NOT been inducted yet,” Questlove wrote.

He continued, “32 years ago today #Control dropped AND CHANGED EVERYTHING: including her brother AND the mentor of her producers jimmy & terry. Whether we credit it or not: Control was the first #NewJackSwingalbum. Yeah it was breakbeat free, but the young brash attitude made it a first. This was NOONEs kid sister.”

Janet’s nephew, Taj Jackson, son of Tito Jackson, thanked Questlove for fighting to get his aunt inducted.

“Very grateful to and those who rallied tirelessly to make this long overdue honor finally happen for ,” Taj tweeted.

Janet began her career acting before she released her eponymous debut album at the age of 15. She became a pop superstar who went on to sell over 100 million records throughout her career.

She has won 11 American Music Awards, five Grammy Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards and 11 Billboard Music Awards, including the Icon Award earlier this year.

The legendary performer was nominated in October. She will be ushered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next spring at the 34th induction ceremony, which will take place next March at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
