Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made history during President Joe Biden's address during a joint session of Congress Wednesday evening. It marked the first time that two women sat behind the president. Harris was greeted by a round of applause upon entering the House chamber. She then elbow-bumped Pelosi after reaching the podium, acknowledging the historic moment.
Lil Kim Prepares To Tell All
The Notorious K.I.M. will share the unfiltered version of her life story this fall with the release of her new memoir, The Queen Bee, slated for release in November. Senator Tim Scott, the only Black Republican senator currently serving, trended on Twitter under the hashtag "Uncle Tim" Wednesday evening after he stated that "America is not a racist country" during the Republican rebuttal to President Biden's first joint address to Congress. At the same time, Scott shared he has "experienced the pain of discrimination" such as being "pulled over for no reason" and being "followed around a store."
Three Indicted On Federal Hate Crimes In Ahmaud Arbery Shooting
Three Georgia men have been indicted on federal hate crime charges in connection to the murder Ahmaud Arbery, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday. Travis McMichael, Travis’s father, Gregory McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan were all charged with one count of interference with rights and with one count of attempted kidnapping. Travis and Gregory McMichael were also charged with "one count each of using, carrying, and brandishing" a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. Travis was also charged with discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. Aside from the federal charges, all three have been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
FBI Raids Giuliani's Home
Federal agents searched the Manhattan home of Rudy Giuliani Wednesday, leaving the scene with phones and computers, CNN reports. The search and seizure are just one part of an investigation into the Ukrainian business dealings of the former New York City Mayor. Giuliani has not been formally charged and continues to deny all wrongdoing.
