Haiti's First Lady Recounts The Assassination Of Her Husband

In an interview with The New York Times, the widow of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse opened up about the terrifying moments that assassins stormed her home and murdered her husband. Martine Moïse told the outlet that when the sound of gunfire jolted her out of her sleep, she told her two children to hide in the bathroom. When the gunmen made it to the bedroom she shared with the Haitian President, he told her to lie down on the floor. It was the last thing he said to her before he was shot dead. Moïse expressed that the only reason the assailants did not kill her is that they believed that they already had. “When they left, they thought I was dead,” said Moïse, who was shot in the arm during the attack. "The only thing that I saw before they killed him were their boots," she said. "Then I closed my eyes, and I didn't see anything else."

CDC Internal Document Paints Grim Portrait Of Delta Variant

A leaked slideshow presentation from an internal CDC briefing paints a more grim picture of the Delta variant than that which was previously presented to the public. According to The Washington Post, the internal document, which is based on still-unpublished data, says that the variant is as contagious as chickenpox and that it appears to cause more serve illness in comparison to earlier variants. Further, the document states that health officials must "acknowledge the war has changed.” Additionally, the document explains that the variant may be spread by both vaccinated and unvaccinated people as the data shows that both vaccinated and unvaccinated people infected with the variant shed similar viral loads. Based on the data, both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are recommended to wear masks in indoor settings under certain circumstances.

Nas Announces New Album, King's Disease II

New music from Nas will be dropping next week. Wednesday, the Queensbridge rapper took to Instagram to announce the sequel to his 2020 album, King's Disease, which won Best Rap Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. King's Disease II is slated for release on August 6.

Comedian Michael Che has deleted all of his Instagram posts after facing criticism on the social media platform Thursday behind Simone Biles Jokes. “I got like 3 mins of Simone Bilesjokes in my head. I’m going to the Cellar tonight to say them into a microphone. As the dorky kids say, I’m choosing violence,” Che wrote. While the "Saturday Night Live" actor did not share the jokes, he did comment on the jokes of some of his followers—including one about convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, who sexually abused Biles and others on the U.S. women's national gymnastics team.

Kim Kardashian Served With Cease And Desist By Black Business Owner

Business owner Cydnie Lunsford and Kim Kardashian are on the brink of what could be a nasty legal battle as Kardashian seeks to trademark SKKN for her new beauty line. According to TMZ, an attorney on behalf of Lunsford, who runs skincare company SKKN+, has sent Kardashian's team a cease and desist letter. Lunsford's representative says that SKKN+ has been in operation since 2017 and that they applied with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to register Lunsford's SKKN+ logo back in March. Both parties are scheduled to meet to discuss the matter and hopefully, find a resolution.
