Rep. Maxine Waters (D-California) continues to face prejudice as she fights for the rights of everyday American citizens, most recently being told to “go back to Africa” by a racist restaurant owner in Chesterfield, VA.
“Maxine Waters, shut your your big fat lips, no one wants to hear your rasium remarks…Go back to Africa where youre from,” was the message received from Caddy’s Restaurant owner Judy Talley Maxie, who shared the racist comment on Facebook.
Maxie faced immediate backlash, including from those determined to shut her restaurant down. She later removed the post and disabled the comments on her ‘Caddy’s’ business page. While she removed all traces of the controversial post, she didn’t completely back down, writing, “Sorry. If everybody else can speak what they think, I can too. It is a country that we have freedom of speech and I use [mine] quite often.”
