When Meek Mill was sentenced to two-to-four years in prison for violating his parole late last year, celebrities, activists and other advocates of fairness were outraged. Lawyers representing the “We Ball” musician argued that their client was being unfairly targeted by the judge due to bias.

Now, it appears that lawyers for the rapper claim to have proof that the judge was doing so.

Last week, Meek’s lawyers argued that transcripts from the court could prove that Judge Genece Brinkley was biased when handing down the sentence to Meek.

The probation violation stems from charges he received when he was 19. This week, TMZ reported that the transcript showed no bias, but Meek’s lawyers.

We think that Judge Brinkley has taken an unusual interest in his career,” Meek’s defense lawyer Jordan Siev said during an interview on The Angie Martinez Show on Wednesday.

Meek’s team is asking the judge to excuse herself from the case. Siev elaborated by saying that the transcript shared on various media outlets hasn’t been the fully released transcripts. He also stated that Judge Brinkley made multiple references to her former manager Charles Mack, who he fired in 2011. The judge also mentioned issues with Meek’s new management.

When asked if he thought Brinkley and other had some kind of business with Mack, Sieve responded, “I don’t know the answer to that.”

“What we see repeatedly is not just a request…for Meek to replace his management. Time and time again specifically mentioning [Mack].”
