Michelle Obama was featured in a new PSA for When We All Vote, a nonprofit voter turnout initiative, on Thursday. In the video, the former first lady explained why voting always matters even when some citizens may feel “the system is rigged.”
“The truth is when we stay home, things stay the same or they get worse,” Obama said. “But when we all vote, we get new ideas and new energy. We get leaders who share our values and listen to our voices. That’s how we change America.”
She urged viewers to register to vote and head to the polls for midterm elections on Nov. 6. Obama will be at voter registration events in Las Vegas and Miami next week.
Her memoir, Becoming, is scheduled to release on Nov. 13, after which she will headline a 10-city book tour.
