Singer Michelle Williams, 38, announced Friday that she and Pastor Chad Johnson have ended their engagement.

In a now-deleted Instagram Story post, Williams, who revealed the news the same day she released her new single, “Fearless,” said that healing needs to take place, according to PEOPLE.

“I still remain fearless. I guess I still remain single! Things didn’t work out,” she wrote. “The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don’t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS”

Fans of the Destiny’s Child singer may not be surprised by the news. On the OWN series Chad Loves Michelle, which documented the couple’s relationship, Johnson mocked Williams’ mental health struggles after she brought up that he would not be able to fully understand her experience being a Black woman.

“I said something to him on the lines of, ‘Well, Chad, because you are not Black you would not understand why I communicate the way I do. Maybe because you didn’t grow up around a lot of Black people.’ So that was very, very offensive to Chad,” she said on the show to her therapist.

“And this is not to justify it, but yesterday when we had the disagreement, he said, ‘Did you take your meds today?’” said Michelle Williams.

The former couple met at a spiritual retreat in Arizona in March 2017 and got engaged in April of this year.

“I was in a horrible, dark place,” she told PEOPLE this year. “I just needed to go somewhere where I could get a message of hope and restoration, rejuvenation—get connected to God.”

The split isn’t the first time Williams called off the engagement, according to PEOPLE. She told the magazine in October that she ended the engagement twice with Johnson a few weeks after he proposed and a few months after she checked herself into a mental health facility for severe depression.

“There was a period of time where we did not know if we were going to make it down the aisle,” she said at the time.
